We love a bit of geekery over here, with our penchant for Star Wars, marathon viewings of Adventure Time, and bursts of Disney's Frozen songs, we are big kids and not afraid to show it.
Plenty of our friends also have geeky leanings, sending me countless links and news from anything that makes us jump up and down on the spot grinning inanely.
One such friend, Amy, branched out and launched GeekLaChic.co.uk, a shop full of quirky and completely affordable bits and pieces from all your favourite Sci-Fi, Comedy, Cartoons New and Retro, Games and Comic Books.
Opening
as an online store just a year or so ago, it has picked up with full steam
ahead becoming hugely popular online growing consistently, and has now branched into it’s first store, albeit a pop up store but hopefully
it’ll become a more permanent feature in the Lanes of Brighton.
It’s
currently a pop up store in Ship Street Gardens (for those who love lingerie
and have ever visited She Said, it’s right next door, if you haven’t been make
that your pit stop after Geek La Chic!) which is a little alley off Ship
Street, and was planning to stay there for the whole of May.
As
it has been so popular, and full of some amazing stock, it looks like it’ll be
sticking around for June too, and maybe if you’re lucky it’ll stay around for a
lot longer after!
It boasts plenty of unique stock that will make you stand out from the crowds, and help you to attract fellow Whovians, Star Warsians, Sherlockians, or whatever nerdy subculture takes your fancy.
For the non geeks (is there really such a thing?!) there is plenty of amazing shoes from Iron Fist, being the only Brighton stockist, and one of only a handful of UK stockists, and with Iron Fist clothing on the way too, amazing dresses that I fell in love with from Dead Lovers, an up and coming Manchester brand that will go far from the designs and quality of the products I saw that you simply must check out now, and much much more it is worth a visit before you hit the pebbly beach!
If you aren't able to make it to the store there is always the online route, with plenty of products available, sale bargains, gifts and much more, with new items added every day it's worth bookmarking and checking on the regular!
The store is so full and jam packed, you are guaranteed to find something for you, your friend, your little sister, and your quirky cousin under one roof, and it's pretty hard to leave empty handed.
I even had trouble leaving without buying countless items, but my bank balance wouldn't allow for such a splurge, so I left with only a Boba Fett Dressing Gown, a bargain at only £20, and had to buy as Edd has one too so we now are that cliche matching dressing gowns couple, but in a Star Wars kind of a way.
With items ranging from Swimwear (so handy as it's so close to the beach!), shoes, clothes of all kinds and for all occasions (My Little Pony Prom Dress? Yes, they have you covered), bags, and plenty of accessories I'm surprised how jam packed this little shop is, and just how busy it got with people constantly popping in and talking to the owner, Amy, about buying from them online too.
I wouldn't be surprised if this shop stayed for a while yet to come, and as it was only meant to be a pop up store, it proves just how popular these items, and this store actually is.
